Engine Installation Guide:
Thank you for purchasing a quality recycled Engine from Northwest Auto Parts. Not only have you saved money over a new part, you are helping the environment by re-use of a “Green” part.
This engine comes with an expressed limited warranty for normal driving conditions. For complete warranty information please refer to your written express limited warranty.
By performing pre-installation maintenance, you will prolong the life of your recycled part and protect its warranty. Improper installation voids the Northwest Auto Parts express limited warranty. Proper installation includes the following pre-installation procedures.

  • Pre-installation Maintenance:
  • Clean the oil pump screen and pickup tube
  • Install new oil filter and engine oil
  • Replace the thermostat and gasket
  • Inspect and replace the front crank seal and water pump if needed
  • Replace the valve cover gasket if necessary
  • Install new spark plugs and wires
  • Install new belts and hoses
  • Flush cooling system and refill with antifreeze to specifications
  • Flow test radiator and replace if necessary
  • Replace oil pan gasket and rear main seal if needed
  • Inspect timing gears, chains and belts prior to starting engine
  • Proper installation includes operational cooling and oil pressure
  • Insure the Heat Tab is present. Warranty void if NW Auto Parts heat tab is not present
  • Prior to Engine Start:
  • Disable the ignition and fuel system to prevent the engine from starting
  • Crank engine using the engine starter for at least 60 seconds or until the oil pressure light goes off
  • Repeat step 2 until pressure light goes off while cranking
  • Start engine and ensure adequate oil pressure

Warranties are void if engine is run hot or heat tabs melted. Warranty void if the crankshaft is rotated in the opposite direction from which it runs.

 

 

Transmission Installation Guide:
Thank you for purchasing a quality recycled Transmission from Northwest Auto Parts. Not only have you saved money over a new part, you are helping the environment by re-use of a “Green” part.
This transmission comes with an expressed limited warranty for normal driving conditions. For complete warranty information please refer to your written express limited warranty.
By performing pre-installation maintenance, you will prolong the life of your recycled part and protect its warranty. Improper installation voids the Northwest Auto Parts express limited warranty. Proper installation includes the following pre-installation procedures.
Pre-installation Maintenance:

  • Replace front seals, rear seals, axle seals, and any O-rings
  • Install new transmission filter kit and pan gasket
  • Flush, Inspect, and flow test transmission cooling lines in accordance with vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines. This includes reviewing the manufacturer’s latest Technical Service Bulletins.
  • Replace auxiliary cooler if equipped
  • Properly align, index, and fully engage torque converter into the front pump
  • Manual transmissions replace the pilot bearing, clutch, pressure place and release bearing
  • Install as required, with all dowel pins
  • Inspect and adjust throttle positing sensor cable/linkage (adjust shifter mechanism on manuals)
  • Fill the transmission and differential/final drive with fluid to the proper levels using proper types in accordance with the vehicle manufacturers latest Technical Service Bulletins.
  • Verify all electrical connections are electronically correct and connected
  • Verify all u-joints and C/V joints are serviceable
  • Flashing the computer to clear all transmission fault codes stored
  • Verify the engine is running smoothly with no fault codes
  • Adjust the throttle pressure
  • Test drive vehicle, re-check fluid levels, and adjust as needed
  • Computer controlled transmissions need to have scan tool attached to check for codes
  • When interchanging between years and models, it may be necessary to change wiring, linkages, and speedometer gears/sensors

Warranties are void if vehicles are driven on malfunctioning transmissions. If the transmission malfunctions – Do Not Drive It! Call us and our warranty department will give further instruction.

 

 

A/C Compressor Installation Guide:
Thank you for purchasing a quality recycled A/C Compressor from Northwest Auto Parts. Not only have you saved money over a new part, you are helping the environment by re-use of a “Green” part.
This A/C Compressor comes with an expressed limited warranty for normal driving conditions. For complete warranty information please refer to your written express limited warranty.
By performing pre-installation maintenance, you will prolong the life of your recycled part and protect its warranty. Improper installation voids the Northwest Auto Parts express limited warranty. Proper installation includes the following pre-installation procedures.
Pre-installation Maintenance:

  • Flush and clean the system
  • Evacuate the system to remove moisture
  • Note: Freon entering the system as a liquid is a major cause of broken reed valves, broken pistons and noisy compressors
  • Rotate the compressor 10-12 times
  • Always use gauges to check the system pressure
  • Use manufacture recommended refrigeration types and pressures before charging the system
  • Change the drier or accumulator and orifice tube
  • Verify the A/C lines are free of blockage or debris
  • Insure not to overcharge or overheat the system
  • Note: The most common failures of A/C compressors is due to excessive head pressure caused by one of the following: blockage, overcharging, or overheating

 

 

Axle Installation Guide:
Thank you for purchasing a quality recycled Axle from Northwest Auto Parts. Not only have you saved money over a new part, you are helping the environment by re-use of a “Green” part.
This Axle comes with an expressed limited warranty for normal driving conditions. For complete warranty information please refer to your written express limited warranty.
By performing pre-installation maintenance, you will prolong the life of your recycled part and protect its warranty. Improper installation voids the Northwest Auto Parts express limited warranty. Proper installation includes the following pre-installation procedures.
Pre-installation Maintenance:

  • Fill the unit with fluid to the proper levels using the proper fluid in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines. This includes reviewing the manufacturer’s latest Technical Service Bulletins
  • Tires must all be the same brand, model, size, and tread depth
  • Verify the ratio is correct
  • Swap brake components (brake components are not warrantied)
  • Inspect seals for leakage and replace if necessary (seals are not warrantied)
  • Test drive vehicle for quiet, smooth ride

Note: Warranties are void if vehicles are driven on malfunctioning axle. If the axle malfunctions – Do Not Drive It! Call us and our warranty department will give further instruction.

  • Adjust shifter mechanism (if applicable)
